Michele L. Cooke, PhD, is a Professor in the Geosciences Department of the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. She researches the evolution of active fault systems in the Earth’s crust and earthquake mechanics. Cooke served as Graduate Program Director of the Geosciences program from 2017-2021 and has served as Graduate Program Admissions Director since 2017. Over the last few years Cooke has implement several initiatives within the Geosciences program to increase transparency and inclusivity of the program and to support graduate student success. The UMass Amherst Geosciences department was one of 14 inaugural AGU Bridge programs in 2019.
