September 2021 Virtual Journal Club

Date: September 20, 2021

Time: 3:00 pm ET | 12:00 pm PT (Length 75 mins)

This meeting will report on the growing base of evidence that holistic review promotes equity in graduate education through a discussion of the article: “Reimagining Merit and Representation: Promoting Equity and Reducing Bias in GME Through Holistic Review” by Barcelo and colleagues.

You’ll find this paper is useful for thinking about how to refine rubrics and other structured protocols in implementing holistic admissions. After reporting on the findings and some supporting evidence, our discussion will also help participants consider how they might deliberately integrate diversity considerations into their admissions processes and evaluation protocols.

After the event, a summary will be available on the Virtual Journal Club webpage.

If you have any questions/concerns or do not have access to the full articles through your organization please email IPHub@IGENetwork.org. If you would like to be added to the Virtual Journal Club invitation list please fill out this contact form.

We ask that if you are planning to attend this Virtual Journal Club to:

  • RSVP here by Sept 17, 2021. A personal zoom connection link will be emailed to you upon registration.
  • Please prepare for discussion by reading the article. An article summary will be made available prior to the Virtual Journal Club date.
