Abstract: Strong mentorship has been linked to enhanced mentee productivity, self-efficacy, career satisfaction, and sense of support. Unfortunately, few mentors have received formal training in effective mentoring practices, particularly related to mentoring individuals with different socio-cultural identities than themselves. Even fewer scholars have received formal instruction on what it means to be a proactive mentee. In this talk, Dr. Melissa McDaniels from the Center for the Improvement of Mentored Experiences in Research (UW-Madison) will share evidence-based tools and resources that can be used by attendees to strengthen their professional working relationships across all stages of their scientific careers.
