The program recognizes the potential for all students to excel in the chemical sciences and provides resources to help individuals overcome barriers to success.

The ACS Bridge Program is dedicated to strengthening the pipeline of qualified doctoral candidates in the chemical sciences. We provide support and resources to students recognizing the potential for all individuals to thrive in chemistry. Our program helps students overcome barriers and achieve their academic goals.

The ACS Bridge Program consists of three components:

  • Bridge Program – A 1–2-year transitional program for PhD preparation, offering coursework, research, and mentorship.
  • Bridge Travel Awards – Provides financial support to undergraduate and graduate students to offset expenses associated with participation in ACS Meetings.
  • Bridge Career & Professional Development - Offers workshops, tools, resources, and advice for undergraduate and graduate students on graduate and career preparation.

Other ACS resources:

  • ChemIDP – A career planning tool for chemical scientists.
  • Mentorship - Resources and programs on mentoring others and getting the most from a mentoring relationship.
  • Chemistry Careers - Support for internships, REUs, and full-time research/lab roles across every career level.
