Brookhaven National Laboratory
IGEN Engagement
Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL), which is an IGEN Partner, regularly participates in IGEN meetings and programs like the Professional Networking Group, a private LinkedIn Group which is designed to connect graduate students with national labs representatives.
Brookhaven is committed to developing a pipeline for UREM students to transition into professional careers and to attend to their professional development. As such, we are developing materials for training of their research mentors, and constructing logistic guidelines to make students known to hiring managers and researchers.
Brookhaven National Laboratory Education and Outreach Programs
Using the unique scientific tools and intellectual resources of Brookhaven National Laboratory, the Office of Educational Programs prepares the next generation of scientists, engineers, technicians, and educators. Our team comprises scientists, science educators, and engineers to develop and facilitate workforce development and education initiatives that support the scientific mission of Brookhaven National Lab and the U.S. Department of Energy.
About the Lab
Brookhaven National Laboratory delivers discovery science and transformative technology to power and secure the nation’s future. Primarily supported by the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Science, Brookhaven Lab is a multidisciplinary laboratory with seven Nobel Prize-winning discoveries, 37 R&D 100 Awards, and more than 70 years of pioneering research.
The Laboratory's 2,500-plus staff members lead and support diverse research teams that address the DOE mission to ensure the nation's security and prosperity by addressing its energy, environmental, and nuclear challenges through transformative science and technology solutions. Among Brookhaven National Lab’s current initiatives are nuclear science, energy science, data science, particle physics, accelerator science and technology, quantitative plant science, and quantum information science.
Brookhaven National Lab staff are entrusted by DOE on the nation's behalf to safely build and operate facilities that house unique tools used by interdisciplinary teams comprising researchers from Brookhaven as well as those from other national labs, academia, and industry.
